July 2016 Henry's Fork / ２０１６年７月ヘンリーズフォーク

Summer busy schedule, I have squeezed 3 days fishing trip to Henry's fork. Trout Hunter fly shop as usual welcoming and helped me settle in. They told me fishing has been very tough due in part to high waters in recent weeks put the fish down and no risers and Drakes hatches are done for the season... As I head out to Last Chance look out to see the conditions, there were no fish rise to be found. I started fishing but indeed it was tough condition. In the evening of the first day, I head out to Osbourne bridge area and found Brown Drakes Spinners flying around as well as some BD hatches and some fish rise. I managed to catch one fish that evening. Next day, head out to Madison River since HF wasn't doing well. Madison had some prolific hatches of every bugs resides in that river. Bugs were everywhere and fish were responding. Good hatch of Caddis got me hook a couple of rising fish and fun...but soon after so many fisherman/women decided to show up on the river and there were more people on the river than fish in the river, I swear. Not a good time to fish on the world famous fly fish water on July 4th weekend, period! Evening of the second day, head back to HF again at Osbourne Bridge. There were really good hatch of Brown Drake as well as Flav, and some Green Drake, again bugs are everywhere, but no fish rise...😓 No fish that evening but overall was great fishing and spectacular scenery.
夏の忙しいスケジュールの合間に3日間のヘンリーズフォークへの釣り旅行。トラハンの親切なスタッフのお陰で気分も落ち着き。ですが、増水のためコンディションは良くないとのこと。ドレイクのハッチも終わったらしい。ラストチャンスのお立ち台から川を眺めるもハッチはなし。釣りを早速始めたが本当にタフなコンディションでした。その日の夕方、オズボーン橋の辺りでブラウンドレイクのスピナー発見。結構な数飛んでるじゃあないですか。そのうちブラウンドレイクのハッチもちらほら。ライズもちらほら。その日夕方に一匹ドレイクパターンでやっと２５cmくらいのニジマス釣れました。次の日はHFはだめそうなので、近くのマディソン川へ。マディソンではその川に住むほとんどすべての虫が出ているじゃあありませんか。魚も活性も高そう。カディスがすごい数飛んでるのでそのパターンで数匹釣れました。でもそのうちお昼前にはたくさんの釣り人が川を埋め尽くしてたので退散。魚より人の方が多いんじゃないかというぐらい。こういう川に独立記念日週末に来るもんじゃないですね。その日の夕方は前日と同じくオズボーン橋のへ移動。その日も日没前ブラウンドレイクのハッチ、フラブも出始め、しまいにはグリーンドレイクまで飛んでるじゃあないですか。コンディションはかなりいいはずなのにライズ全くなし。😥その日のイブニングは釣れずでしたが、景色は最高でした。

May 2016 Mccloud River CA trip

I have fun every year in May, visit to Mccloud River in Shasta county with hungry fish and bugs of many species hatching at the same time. This year wasn't exception either. I had fun camping with two of my fishing buddies.
毎年恒例のカリフォルニアシャスタ郡のマククラウドリバー鱒と虫のハッチが今年も楽しませてくれました。友人とのキャンプの時間も格別でした。

2016 Trinity River Steelhead fishing trip / 2016年トリニティーリバー、スティールヘッド 釣り。

Once again in Trinity river. This time forecast of heavy snow and rain. Indeed first day was worst kind of weather you can imagine. But fishing was incredible. Fish were aggressive and caught 3 8-10 lbs chromer in 2 days.

トリニティーリバーへ再来。予報は雪と雨。初日は期待を裏切らず寒く一日中雨そして午後から雪。しかし釣りは最高でした。魚たちはアグレッシブで二日で８−１０パウンダーを三匹釣りました。

October 2015 Canada BC Bulkley river fishing trip. 2015年10月カナダ、ブリティッシュコロンビア、バルクリーリバー釣り旅行。

Upper Skeena, Bulkley River fishing excursion. We fished Bulkley, Morice, Babine River for 5 days. Guided Bulkley for two days. Manabu, Hirofumi and I fished hard for Steelhead and caught 5 fish total. Condition were tough, but we made some good memories. The lodge, the view and food with good laughter made our trip memorable.

カナダ、スキーナ水系スティールヘッド釣り旅行。バルクリー、モリス、バビーンリバーで５日間の釣り。そのうちガイドと二日間バルクリーで釣りました。Manabu, Hirofumi と私の三人でスペイロッドを５日間投げ続け、5匹の魚を釣りました。コンディションはそれほど良くなく、難しい釣りでしたが、良い旅になりました。泊まったロッジ、そこからの景色、そして食べ物、そして皆んなとの楽しい会話が忘れることのない思い出となりました。

3/24/2015 Feather River Steelhead fishing. 三月フェザーリバーにて。

Again this year Feather river steelhead season has came. Water level much lower than last year at 500 CFS. First day fished with Alvin pattern, did not get any bite. Water is too clear to entice fish with this pattern. Next day fished with small red copper john and small caddis nymph pattern. I hooked 3 fish, landed 1. Indeed it was good day.

フェザーリバーのスティールヘッドシーズン到来。干ばつの影響で水位は天下、５００ft3/sec. 1日目はサーモンアルビンパターン、全然ヒットせず。水がクリアすぎるのか？二日目は小さいニンフとカディスのパターンそれで三匹掛け、一匹ネットイン。まずまずの日でした。

Spring days around town. 近隣の春。

Not related to fishing but Spring warmth brings spectacular scenery where I live.
釣りと関係ないですが、私の住むこのあたり、春には素晴らしい景色になります。

1/26-28 2015 Mad + Trinity River fishing trip.

1/26-1/28 2015 Mad + Trinity River CA Steelhead fishing trip. It has been a while since the last steelhead fishing trip (back in September), I headed up Northern CA this time.
The weather was beautiful sunny and warm. First I drove up to Eureka, CA. fished Mad river the first time. River was off color from all the silt. But seemed to hold quite bit of adult steelhead this time of the year. Too many Spinner/bait fisher man and crowded. I didn't get any hookups and left after spending few hours, headed up to Trinity. The first riffle in Willow creek area, I hooked 1/2 pounder in the first couple of cast. Beautiful healthy fish. The second fish upstream later in the evening. Spend the night at campground. The next day, another beautiful day but where are the fish? Did not get any bite what so ever?! mmm............tough. Over all it was less than what I was expecting but that's what steelhead fishing is all about. Hopefully better luck next time.

2015年1月26-28日北カリフォルニア、マッドリバーとトリニティーリバー、スティールヘッド釣り旅行。しばらく振りの釣り（前は去年の9月かな）北カリフォルニアへ。
天気はとても良く、一月にしては暖かく太陽も顔を出し。最初はカリフォルニア州のユーレカという街を経由して、初めて行くマッドリバーへ。川は濁りがかなりあり、でもこの時期かなりのアダルト、スティールヘッドが上がってきてる感じ。でもそれとともに、たくさんのエサ釣り、スピナー釣り客が岸辺を埋め尽くしておりました。その合間をぬって、竿を出すも全く反応なしということで数時間投げた後、トリニティーへ。最初ウイロークリークエリアにて何投かのキャストの後、最初のハーフパウンド、スティールヘッド。とても元気で、綺麗でした。二匹目もそこから上流にて夕方に。これもハーフパウンドサイズ。その日は川べりのキャンプ場で泊まり。次の日もとてもいい天気。でも魚はどこ？1日キャストし続けるも魚は全くかからず。。。。難しい。今回はなかなか思っていたより、魚いるのに、活性あがらず。まあスティールヘッド相手だとこんなことは日常茶飯事。次良い釣りができることを願いつつ。
